Welcome to Inspirations
Nothing pleases us more than offering quality, elegant name brand furniture and accessories to our customers, and ensuring their satisfaction for years to come. At Charlton Furniture we are proud to have such a loyal customer base, and we love to see you when you visit. Of course, we also love to meet people who are new to the Charlton experience, and to see their expressions as they view our incredible selection for the first time!
The Charlton Furniture experience, however, is about more than sales, service and delivery. We have a passion for furniture and design. Talking shop is one of the great joys of working at Charlton Furniture.
That’s why we are pleased to announce our new blog Inspirations. It provides an inside glimpse at things we love, offers tips on decorating and designing your home, and lets you in on new products, special deals, and upcoming discounts going on at Charlton Furniture. In short, you get the inside scoop from us! Sometimes you just need a little inspiration to complete that perfect room in your home – and that is why we are adding this new feature to our website!
So let this new blog be your official welcome to the virtual version of Charlton Furniture. We cordially invite you to check back for updates and tidbits, and to learn about the latest trends that inspire us!
My name is Lisa Carter and I have recently become a member of the Charlton Furniture team as a designer. My experience within the first month of being here was overwhelming- in the best possible way! Design is my passion, and Charlton Furniture is truly a designer’s playground. Being surrounded each day by all of the different lines and brands of furniture we carry offers endless possibilities to create beautifully designed rooms.
I can’t say enough wonderful things about the staff here. They have welcomed me with open arms, and instantly made me feel like a part of the Charlton Furniture family. I have learned so much in the short amount of time I have been here from the group of smart and talented women that work here. I am beyond thrilled to have the opportunity to join the Charlton Furniture family and look forward to expanding my design expertise and work with customers to find them the best fit for their furniture needs. If you are in the area, stop on by and say hello!
Because winter is truly upon us, here is a little reminder about our deliveries!
Our delivery crew is the best in the business. But even the professionals run into the occasional challenge. Here are some helpful notes if you are having a furniture delivery in the near future:
- Let your salesperson know if there are specific days that are more convenient for you (“I have Wednesdays off!”) or you need the new item before a particular date (“We’re having a baby shower on the 10th!”) One of the joys of buying from a small business is that we do our best to be flexible.
- Measure your home carefully! Nothing is more heartbreaking than finding, ordering and receiving the perfect furniture only to discover that it won’t fit through an interior door way. Staircases with landings, narrow hallways and sharp turns are challenging too. This goes for bedding as well: Queen sized box springs are available in a split design if needed.
- If your delivery is to take place after a storm, please be sure that your driveway and walkways are clear of ice, snow and debris. Safety first!
- Saying goodbye to old furniture can be bittersweet. If it’s in good condition, consider donating it to your favorite charity or ask family and friends if they might have a use for it. Your well-loved furniture will live on and you’ll save on a disposal fee.
And as always, it’s better to ASK if you have any questions!
Not only do we love color here at Charlton Furniture, but we love to stay with the latest trends as well. It’s always fascinating to see what Pantone will come up with for the “Color of the Year” and 2016 is no exception. TWO colors have been named: Serenity and Quartz Pink. Read below to see what Pantone had to say about it…
ROSE QUARTZ & SERENITY
PANTONE 13-1520 & PANTONE 15-3919
A softer take on color for 2016: For the first time, the blending of two shades – Rose Quartz and Serenity are chosen as the PANTONE Color of the Year
As consumers seek mindfulness and well-being as an antidote to modern day stresses, welcoming colors that psychologically fulfill our yearning for reassurance and security are becoming more prominent. Joined together, Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.
The prevalent combination of Rose Quartz and Serenity also challenges traditional perceptions of color association.
In many parts of the world we are experiencing a gender blur as it relates to fashion, which has in turn impacted color trends throughout all other areas of design. This more unilateral approach to color is coinciding with societal movements toward gender equality and fluidity, the consumer's increased comfort with using color as a form of expression, a generation that has less concern about being typecast or judged and an open exchange of digital information that has opened our eyes to different approaches to color usage.

Here is what our friends at Jessica Charles had to say about it…
Christmas is a time when we are filled with joy. We become festive and nostalgic all at once: Our homes are filled with friends and family. What better way to express this? Home décor, of course! So we asked our staff to share their favorite Christmas decorations…
A lifetime of memories dangle from KL’s tree. Each ornament holds a special place in her heart.
MT loves this Uttermost mirror. She’s hoping to recreate this look in her home.
JH thinks that grandchildren are the best decorations and she’s right!
This cute guy didn’t come easy. KZ had to order him from a different state as he was sold out everywhere else!
Each year, VL buys her wreath from the Boy Scouts: beautiful décor and a worthy cause.
Although we here at Charlton Furniture celebrate the Christmas season, we want to extend a Happy Hanukkah to all of our Jewish friends and associates. And with such dismal things happening in the news lately, we’d like to do so in a more light-hearted way. We’ve included a link below to enjoy Adam Sandler’s 4th version of his famous “Hanukkah Song.” Although a bit irreverent, this song reminds us that we all have joyous celebrations during this time of year.

Pantone’s color of the day, Heirloom Lilac has long been associated with “little old lady” parlors, children’s bedrooms and Easter decorations. But today’s designers have a fresh, new take on the soothing hue. Cool and contemporary, lilac makes a beautiful compliment to grey and looks modern and organic with its color-wheel opposite, green. → Read more
Because Houzz.com knows the truth of it!
Another great article from Houzz.com! This is advice that we’ve been giving our customers for more than 40 years. Here are a couple of excerpts from the article, click below to view the whole post.
- “Buy the best sofa you can afford,” advises Juestel. Try to sit or lie on the piece before you buy, and if you can afford it,upgrade your cushions from solid foam to foam wrapped in down. If you do most of your sitting in the family room rather than the living room, spend the money on those pieces, instead of on pieces that’ll never get used.
- ... stick to furniture stores. Caccoma is not a fan of buying furniture from department stores, she says, because furniture is not their primary business, so the quality varies and the styles might not be current. Also, avoid fly-by-night operations. “Buy things from places where if there’s a problem, you know they’ll stand behind their product,” she advises.
- When shopping for cabinets, look for drawers with dovetail joints in the corners.
